Chemo Hat and Scarf Project
We wanted to update you on this wonderful project.

Mid May, 2010, we sent off another round of hats and scarves to the central Texas American Cancer Society that they will distribute to our friends and neighbors who are undergoing chemo and need them.

You continue to be so generous with your time, materials and kindness for this project. So much so that we had over 135 hats, scarves, wraps and a lap blanket to donate. A special recognition goes to Mian B., who gets the award for the most number of hats donated since this program has begun! You rock, Mian!!

This is an ongoing project because so many of you have wished it to be so, and due to the ongoing need. If you would like to join in and make a hat or two, please, we'd love to have you do that. If you have soft, novelty, wild and whacky, conservative, manly, frufru yarns in your stash that you can part with, or needles you no longer use, it would be most appreciated, too. This allows many people to participate who might not otherwise.

Once we have a final count, we'll begin our 2009 countdown to our goal of 1000 hats and scarves! How wonderful is that?

Past Projects

For the August 2008 Paige VFD Annual Fundraiser Auction, we all decided to donate something special from some of Yarnorama's new weavers!

Check this out! The Recycled, Handwoven Market Bag!! Isn't this just the nicest handwoven market bag you've ever seen?

Thanks to our new weavers, Sonnie and Pat, and thank you Lois, the artist amongst us,
for being such a good sport and helping with the weaving! A special thanks to Sonnie for
all of her careful sewing (at the last minute, no less).

The best part? The four bags auctioned off with some cookies and washcloths, and
brought in nearly $400! Yup, you read that right!!
