This is Maurice Brassard 2-ply tencel. Tencel® is the registered trade name for a type of lyocell, a biodegradable material made from wood pulp cellulose. Items made with this fiber generally drape well, resist wrinkles and are strong/durable. Also, the fabric is very breathable and wicks moisture, making it a good choice for those with sensitive skin.
The yarn has a natural sheen that becomes more pronounced with hard pressing the finished piece. For weavers, it can be used for both warp and weft. When looking at patterns, it can be substituted for 8/2 unmercerized cotton.
Tencel makes beautifully luxurious scarves and shawls.
